Strategic Planning at St Patrick's

As a DOBCEL school  St Patrick's  is committed to ensuring that education sits within a flourishing and supportive environment that respects the dignity and aspirations of all students and their families. Effective school improvement is about implementing continuous change that enhances the learning outcomes for all students. All DOBCEL schools are required to provide an education that meets both diocesan requirements and government legislation and is supported through stewardship of financial, environmental and physical resources of the school.

School Improvement for DOBCEL schools such as St Patrick's is based on the following:
The Catholic Social Teaching principles of:
  • Human dignity, the intrinsic value of a person created in the image and likeness of God and redeemed by Christ.
  • Subsidiarity, which requires decisions to be made by the people closest and most affected by the issues and concerns.
  • The common good, the totality of social conditions allowing persons to achieve their communal and individual fulfilment. The common good is reached when we work together to improve the wellbeing of people in our society and the wider world. •
School improvement is a continuous process (not an event) to improve and enhance the outcomes of all students. There must be alignment of school vision to educational outcomes, effective stewardship and high standards of implementation of diocesan and government requirements. The School Improvement and Accountability Schedule is to be followed by all DOBCEL Schools.

An explicit and ongoing agenda for school improvement at the system and school level is supported by cyclic processes and effective change management strategies. School improvement and the capacity to improve are primarily driven from within the school through self-review and reflection and supported by system leadership and service that respects the school context and local decision-making.

Every school can improve and all individuals within a school community have a contribution to school improvement.  Effective leadership, evidenced-based strategies and high standards of professional practice that build a performance and development culture are critical for improvement.
